Death & Taxes

Despite my interest in history, I can’t claim to be a huge Founding Fathers stan. That said, I do think Benjamin Franklin had it right when he asserted that “in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes.”

Every year I get oodles of questions about the intersection of those certainties. Do I have to pay my dead loved one’s taxes? How does that work? What about inheritance taxes? What about estate taxes? If there’s a trust, does the trust owe taxes?

My hot take on the subject is that it’s a little easier than people think. But to ease your collective minds, I’ll be hosting an online Death & Taxes lecture on April 1. Hope to see you there!
