Beyond the grave (literally)

While writing and researching my forthcoming book, I keep coming across things I should add to this website, or ways I could revise sections to make them clearer. The book, however, has a deadline. The website does not.

Yesterday I went to lounge upside down at an aerial yoga class—but before that I sat upside right at a nearby coffee shop and busted out some much needed site updates, including but not limited to:

  • Added a few links to the To-Die List to better define key terms when you’re having uncomfortable convos with your parents. Your still living parents, that is—I don’t expect you to break out a Ouija Board.

  • Clarified the active dying phase in the Hospice section. The way I’d written it earlier made it seem like people in hospice were perpetually in the active dying phase, which fortunately isn’t the case.

  • Added a BUNCH of information about alternative methods of disposition to the Getting Rid of a Body section. I was convinced I’d already added info about green burial methods, donation to science, human composting and more—but it turns out I absolutely had not. This is what happens when one single person tries to run an entire website on top of their full time job.

  • Updated the Resources page to reflect all these other updates.

Brace yourselves: I’m going to overhaul the Wills/Trusts section of the site next. I cannot promise a specific date, but it’s on the list.

And now for a personal update: I applied for an artist residency so I can have more time to write the book! Keep your fingers crossed for me.
